Meet The Team!

Stacey Levine and Samantha Davenport work behind the scenes to support and grow the Healthy Parks Healthy Person movement

Stacey Levine began working with Healthy Parks in December 2019 as the Program Administrator. She is an alumni of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Lipscomb University. Stacey loves to hike, swim, travel and run; She is currently training for her first half marathon. With three small children, Stacey knows the abundance of benefits to getting them outside and active as much as they can. She and her family live in Dickson, TN and frequently visit Henslee Park and Montgomery Bell State Park.

Fun Fact: Stacey's current favorite trail is the Henslee Park Loop Trail in Dickson. It is a former golf course, very hilly, kid-friendly, and close to home!

Samantha Davenport joined the HPHP team in September 2019 as an Appalachia CARES AmeriCorps member after working as a Seasonal Interpretive Ranger at Henry Horton State Park. She is a recent graduate of Martin Methodist College, where she studied Wildlife Biology and played Volleyball. Sam loves animals (especially her two dogs), staying active, traveling, and being outdoors!

Fun Fact: Sam's favorite trail is The Natural Bridge Trail at Pickett State Park! The trail is an easy hike with an amazing sandstone natural bridge that is about 35 feet tall. The best part is that you can walk across it!

Spring Challenge Update

Our HPHP Spring Challenge was an 8-day challenge to get you outside during Natural Areas Week! Those who completed the challenge got outdoors at least 5 times during that week. WAY. TO. GO.

THANK YOU to everyone who participated in getting active outside! During this unprecedented and stressful time, nature, sunlight, and exercise are imperative. HPHP hopes you were able to get outside, maybe try something new, but ultimately step outside of the house!

This summer, continue staying safe and social distancing the original way... outdoors!

“The app is highly motivating to help me make getting outdoors and staying active a priority. I have struggled with depression most of my adult life and have found that one of my best coping strategies is the outdoors. Daily doses of Vitamin D and N(nature), with plenty of exercise, helps me take care of myself so I can better take care of my family. I've been using the app for 4 years now and it continues to motivate me to get outside and be active. We have visited all 56 TN State Parks and many of the natural areas. I am always looking for new ways to enjoy the outdoors with my family. I am currently working on hiking the entire Cumberland Trail. I love to walk, run, bike, and paddle my canoe, but my absolute favorite outdoor activity is hiking!” -Stephenie

Stone Door Trail: Beersheba Springs, TN, 1.8 mile out and back, Easy, Kid-Friendly, All Skill Levels, Partially Paved, Dog friendly, -- South Cumberland State park

Middle Tennessee

Machine Falls Loop Trail: Tullahoma, TN, 4.1 miles, Moderate, Kid-friendly, Dog friendly, waterfall, wildflowers
Enclosure Wall Trail: Manchester, TN, 2.7 mile loop, Easy, All skill Levels, Dog friendly
Henslee Park Loop Trail (paved): Dickson, TN, 2.8 miles, Hilly, Kid-friendly. Henslee Park is an old Golf Course, and the trails are paved golf cart paths. Very hilly! Great for walking, bicycles.

West Tennessee

The White Loop: The Trails at Union University, Jackson, TN, 0.9 miles, Easy, Dog friendly, Multi-use (walkers, runners, bikers), All Skill Levels
Mineral Slough Boardwalk: 0.5 mile point to point, along the Ghost River Bayou, half trail/half boardwalk, Kid friendly, great for birding/wildlife/wildflowers (especially water lilies)
Grassy Island Trail: 1.1 mile out and back trail, Easy, All skill levels, Dog-friendly, stroller friendly, birding, wildflowers ; Reelfoot Lake State Park
